Bodies of Water

My surreal Bodies of Water paintings explore the bodily movement of dance, and the tactile relationship we have with the life-sustaining, mesmerizing element of water. Through my acrylic paintings, I share experiences of movement, light, dance, and spontaneity through these fleeting glimpses of human forms created out of the water. The organic twists, splashes, bubbles, and ripples of water all can relate to the sensory experiences of moving within the human body, which itself is mostly made of water. People are not so different from a shape coming out of the water; we are a fleeting series of motions from a temporary gathering of matter which itself creates meaning and beauty before returning to the rest of the cosmic jumble. Our insignificance in the ocean of existence could lead one to despair, but I find the joy of life is in the celebration of this one-in-a-billion dance we each get to do before the lights go out.
